Murder Over Suspected Illicit Relationship in Bhubaneswar
A 55-year-old man was allegedly killed by his neighbour in Bhubaneswar on Saturday morning over suspicions of an illicit relationship with the accused's wife. The incident occurred at Sri Sai Vihar under Mancheswar police station.
The accused, Nilakantha Mohanty, aged 45, was arrested shortly after the attack. Police reported that there was a long-standing dispute between the deceased, Sushil Kumar Singh, and Mohanty regarding Singh's alleged relationship with Mohanty's wife.
Details of the Attack
According to a police officer, Mohanty, in a fit of rage, took out a chopper knife and attacked Singh. Singh was rushed to the hospital while bleeding profusely but was declared brought dead by doctors.
The weapon used in the murder has been seized, and the body of the deceased has been sent for postmortem examination. Police have registered a case and are investigating further to determine if others were involved or if there was any additional provocation.
Investigation Underway
Police said further investigation is ongoing to uncover any other individuals involved or any other motives behind the attack. The accused remains in custody as the probe continues.
