A man who posed as a government official to defraud villagers was publicly humiliated and forced to lick a shoe sole after being caught in Kabri village, Bundi district, Rajasthan. The incident came to light on Sunday after a 16-second video went viral on social media.
Incident Details
According to police, the accused, identified as Manraj Prajapat, arrived in Kabri village under Hindoli police station on Saturday. He introduced himself as a village development officer and promised women benefits under government schemes, including houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. He allegedly collected about Rs 2,000 from some villagers before they grew suspicious.
Confrontation and Confession
When villagers asked for his identity card, Prajapat allegedly confessed to the fraud and returned the money. However, the locals decided to teach him a lesson. They forced him to apologize publicly, fold his hands, touch their feet, and ultimately lick a shoe sole, as seen in the viral video.
Police Response
Circle Inspector Mukesh Yadav identified the person forcing the act as Lokesh Meena and warned him against taking the law into his own hands. No FIR has been registered as neither side filed a complaint. Police are verifying if Prajapat was involved in similar cheating incidents elsewhere.
Authorities urge the public to report crimes to the police rather than resorting to vigilante justice.
