In a brazen late-night incident, a group of masked armed men carried out a significant robbery at a grocery shop located in a local market near the sensitive India–Nepal border. The targeted establishment belongs to Rama Shankar Gupta and is situated under the jurisdiction of the Kanhauli police station in Sitamarhi district. The criminal act unfolded on Friday night, resulting in the theft of valuables estimated to be worth approximately Rs 3 lakh.
Violent Assault on Family Members During the Heist
The robbers did not limit their actions to mere theft. When family members present at the shop attempted to resist the armed intruders, they were subjected to a violent thrashing. This aggressive assault highlights the dangerous and confrontational nature of the crime. After completing the looting and the physical attack, the perpetrators swiftly fled the scene, making their escape in the direction of Nepal, taking advantage of the porous international border.

His inspection was supported by a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team and a specialized dog squad, indicating a thorough forensic approach to gathering evidence. SP Ranjan conducted a detailed review of the ongoing investigation at the location.
The senior police official has provided assurances to the public and the affected family, stating confidently that the culprits responsible for this armed robbery and assault will be apprehended soon. The police are likely examining all available evidence, including potential CCTV footage, witness statements, and forensic clues, to track down the masked individuals and bring them to justice.
