MBA Graduate Survives Terrifying 15-Foot Fall from Delhi Flyover
A 24-year-old MBA graduate is showing remarkable recovery after a horrific accident on a Delhi flyover. Ritik, a team leader at a private firm, fell from the Wazirpur flyover in northwest Delhi on January 6. He plunged between 12 to 15 feet to the ground below.
Helmet Proves Crucial in Preventing Fatal Injuries
Doctors at the hospital where Ritik is admitted have informed police about his condition. They confirm he has multiple injuries on his body and face. However, he does not have severe head trauma. Medical professionals attribute this to his helmet absorbing much of the impact.
Ritik's father, Binay Kumar, provided details about the protective gear. "The helmet is intact," Kumar stated. "Only the visor has been damaged. That appears to have helped him avoid serious head injuries." Kumar serves as a branch manager for an insurance company and flew to Delhi from Bihar after learning about the accident.
The Accident Sequence and Investigation
Ritik was returning to his Rajouri Garden home when the accident occurred. His motorcycle fell through a gap between the carriageways on the flyover. This caused him to fall from the elevated structure. Police found him in critical condition and rushed him to a hospital. He spent several days in the intensive care unit.
Authorities are currently investigating the exact cause. Police are examining whether Ritik lost control after skidding or if a vehicle hit him from behind. The investigation continues as they gather more evidence from the scene.
Recovery and Family's Ordeal
Ritik remained unconscious for four days following the accident. He regained consciousness last Saturday evening. During this brief period of awareness, he spoke to his father. "Ritik held my hand," Kumar recalled. "He told me he remembered being hit by something and then plunging from the flyover. He couldn't recall what happened after that."
The family experienced tremendous anxiety during those initial hours. Kumar described their routine. Ritik used to speak with him every night after reaching home. "On January 6, my wife received a call informing her about the accident," Kumar said. "We were shocked." He immediately alerted relatives in Delhi and flew to the city on Wednesday.
Dangerous Flyover with History of Accidents
This is not the first accident on this particular flyover. Similar incidents have occurred there before. Just two days prior to Ritik's accident, on January 4, a 27-year-old man died under similar circumstances. His scooter fell through the same gap between the carriageways.
Police have recognized the ongoing danger at this location. They have made specific recommendations to improve safety. Authorities suggest installing speed breakers and proper barriers on the flyover. These measures could prevent future accidents at this hazardous spot.
Ritik's condition has improved significantly since the accident. Doctors report he is now stable. His survival highlights the importance of wearing helmets while riding motorcycles. The intact helmet clearly played a vital role in protecting him from potentially fatal head injuries.
