Pune: The Koregaon Park police have registered a case of attempt to murder against the personal assistant (PA) to a state cabinet minister following a complaint filed by his wife. The 30-year-old woman accused her husband of attempting to strangle her at their residence in Queens Garden, Koregaon Park, around 8:30 pm on April 30.
Allegations of Assault
The complainant also alleged that her 40-year-old husband assaulted her and their nine-year-old son with a cricket bat, according to police officials. Senior Inspector Vijayraj Doke of the Koregaon Park police station stated, "The complainant had left Pune for her village in Ahilyanagar district after the incident. She lodged a complaint with the Ahilyanagar police, and the same was transferred to Pune city police on Sunday night. We can only comment on the case after recording the woman's statement."
Details from the FIR
According to the First Information Report (FIR), the couple had been experiencing marital discord for the past three to four years, frequently arguing over domestic issues. On the evening of April 30, the husband picked a quarrel with the complainant, then took a rope and tried to strangle her. Subsequently, he picked up a cricket bat and began beating her. When their son attempted to intervene, he was also struck with the bat, the FIR stated.
The case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including attempt to murder. Investigations are ongoing, and the police are awaiting the woman's statement to proceed further.
