A tragic railway accident in Moradabad district on Wednesday afternoon claimed the lives of two young sisters, sending shockwaves through their village and family.

According to police, the fatal accident occurred around 2:15 pm near the Beejna Chak Begampur railway underpass. The victims, identified as Kashish (18) and her younger sister Tanishka (15), were residents of Beejna village in Moradabad district. The sisters were reportedly on their way to nearby fields to collect 'bathua', a popular leafy vegetable, when the tragedy struck.

Sanjay Singh, the in-charge of Bhojpur police station, provided details of the incident. He stated that the two girls were attempting to cross the railway track when they were run over by the Moradabad-Ramnagar Passenger train. The train was coming from the direction of Moradabad at the time.
"The sisters were crossing the track when they were run over," Singh confirmed. Upon receiving information about the accident, police personnel rushed to the spot immediately. They recovered the bodies from the site and sent them for a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
