Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh High Court has issued a notice to the state government, seeking its response to a petition filed by a former arms dealer regarding a defamation suit against BJP MLA Sanjay Pathak from Gariaband in Katni district.
Petition Details
The petitioner, Nazim Khan from Katni, stated in his petition that following a murder in Kaimor on October 28, Pathak allegedly implicated him by claiming that 14,000 cartridges were missing from the shop of a former arms dealer when the dealer surrendered the shop, and no inquiry was conducted.
Khan argued that the administration had counted the cartridges and arms when he surrendered the shop. However, an inquiry was ordered after Pathak's statement, and when no irregularities were found, he was given a clean chit.
Defamation Allegations
Khan contended that Pathak defamed him by publicly accusing him of not returning 14,000 cartridges during the surrender of the shop. He served a legal notice on Pathak for defamation and also lodged a complaint with the police, urging them to register a defamation case against Pathak. However, the police did not respond to his complaint.
Court Proceedings
During the initial hearing, the bench of Justice Pramod Kumar Verma issued a notice to the state government and the Katni police, directing them to submit their responses.
