In Karnataka's Mandya district, a murder accused was shot in the leg by police while attempting to escape during a spot mahazar. The incident occurred on Thursday near Saibaba temple at D Halasahalli.
Accused identified as Siddaraju
The accused, identified as Siddaraju (33), was involved in a murder case in Bhimanahalli. Police had taken him to the spot for a mahazar when he attempted to flee.
According to officials, Siddaraju tried to escape on the road near the temple, prompting police to fire a warning shot. When he continued running, they shot him in the leg to prevent his escape.
Legal proceedings underway
Siddaraju has been hospitalized and is under police guard. A case has been registered, and an investigation into the escape attempt is ongoing. The police have stated that the use of force was necessary to apprehend the fleeing suspect.
