Narco Test Approved in Gumla Missing Girl Case, HC Told

Ranchi: The Jharkhand government on Thursday informed the Jharkhand High Court that permission has been obtained to conduct a narco test on an accused in the missing girl case from Gumla. The state government told the bench that the Gumla chief judicial magistrate's court has granted approval for the narco test, which will be conducted in Gujarat. The case is scheduled for further hearing on July 9.

The chief secretary, home secretary, and director general of police appeared before the bench. The case was filed by Chandramuni Orain, whose six-year-old daughter went missing in September 2018 in Gumla and has not been traced since.

HC Questions Rural Development Department on Bridge Collapses

Ranchi: The Jharkhand High Court on Tuesday questioned the rural development department about the frequent collapse of bridges constructed by the department in the state. The court was hearing a public interest litigation filed by Pankaj Kumar Yadav, who alleged that bridges built by the department use inferior quality raw materials and do not last long. The case will be heard again on July 2.
