Police in Navi Mumbai have initiated legal action against a 43-year-old tailor following serious allegations of sexual assault made by a 13-year-old girl. The Vashi police station registered a case under the stringent Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act.

The complaint states that the incident took place on December 31, 2025, at around 10 pm. The young girl had visited the tailor's shop located in Juhugaon to get measurements taken for a new dress. It was during this routine task that the alleged crime occurred.
The victim alleged that the accused tailor inappropriately touched her by putting his hand inside her kurti while he was supposedly taking her measurements. This act, performed under the guise of his professional duty, prompted the girl's family to approach the authorities.

Assistant Police Inspector Yogesh Bhosale confirmed that a case has been officially registered. However, in this specific instance, the accused was not immediately taken into custody.
