Young Teacher's Morning Commute Ends in Tragedy Near Bhanpur Bridge

A promising young life was tragically cut short in Bhopal on Friday morning. Mahima Dhiman, a 27-year-old woman, was killed after a private travel bus allegedly rammed into her scooter and dragged her for a significant distance. The horrific incident occurred near the Bhanpur Bridge in the Chhola area, sending shockwaves through the local community.

Details of the Fatal Collision

The victim, a resident of Ayodhya Bypass, was on her daily commute to work. Mahima Dhiman was employed in the administration department of a private school located in Dwarkadham, Karond. As per her routine, she left home on her scooter on the morning of Friday.

At approximately 8 am, after crossing the Bhanpur Bridge and reaching the square near Vidhata Hospital, disaster struck. A travel bus operating on the Vidisha–Bhopal route allegedly crashed into her scooter with great force. The impact was so severe that Mahima and her two-wheeler became trapped under the front bumper of the bus.

Due to the speed of the vehicle, she was dragged for nearly 10 metres along the road. This resulted in catastrophic injuries to her head, arms, legs, and back. Bystanders and passers-by, witnessing the gruesome scene, immediately rushed to her aid.

Aftermath and Police Investigation

The Good Samaritans took the critically injured woman to a private hospital in Bhanpur. However, the doctors could do little but declare her brought dead upon arrival. The injuries sustained in the dragging were too severe for survival.

In a cowardly act, the driver of the private bus abandoned the vehicle at the spot and fled, evading immediate responsibility. Responding swiftly, the Chhola police seized the bus and initiated a formal investigation.

A case has been registered against the errant, absconding driver. Police teams are now actively working to trace and arrest the accused. The authorities revealed a poignant detail about the victim: Mahima was not only dedicated to her job at the school but was also diligently preparing for competitive examinations, aspiring for a brighter future.

A Life Lost, A Community Mourns

The incident highlights the persistent dangers on Indian roads, especially for vulnerable two-wheeler riders sharing space with larger commercial vehicles. The tragic death of a young professional like Mahima Dhiman underscores the urgent need for stricter road discipline and enforcement.

The police have confirmed that the investigation into the exact circumstances of the collision is ongoing. The community in Chhola and the school where she worked are left mourning the loss of a young life full of potential, extinguished on a routine morning commute.
