The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has added accused Shaik Mansoor, also known as Mohammed Ali and Vijayakumar, to the charge sheet filed before the NIA special court in Vijayawada. This development pertains to the 2025 case involving the alleged recovery of explosives intended for use in terror acts through targeted killings in Andhra Pradesh.
Allegations Against Shaik Mansoor
According to the NIA, Shaik Mansoor is a close aide and co-conspirator of accused Shaik Amanulla, also known as Abubakar Siddique. Mansoor was arrested in December last year. The NIA had previously filed a charge sheet against Amanulla in February.
The NIA charge sheet alleges that Mansoor was radicalized, recruited, and trained in bomb-making by Amanulla. Mansoor is accused of assisting Amanulla in transporting explosives to a hideout in Rayachoty, as stated in an official NIA release.
Conspiracy to Undertake Targeted Killings
The NIA has alleged that the two conspired to carry out targeted killings of leaders from a particular community. The objective was to create terror among the public and further their agenda of establishing sharia law in India.
So far, the NIA has arrested three accused in the case, including Amanulla. Explosives and other incriminating materials were allegedly recovered from Amanulla's house.
Fictitious Identity and Past Bomb Blast Case
At the time of his arrest, Mansoor was found living under a fictitious identity after absconding from Tamil Nadu in connection with a bomb blast case from 1999, the probe agency said. He had been residing under the fake name Shaik Mansoor in Rayachoty town, Annamayya district, Andhra Pradesh, using fraudulently obtained government identity documents.
