Noida Woman Files FIR: Husband Lied About Hair, Job, Drug Smuggling
Noida bride files case for fraud, assault by husband

A newlywed woman in Noida has taken legal action against her husband and his family, accusing them of a web of deceit that spans from personal appearance to alleged international crime. The case, filed at the Bisrakh police station, paints a shocking picture of betrayal and cruelty just months after the wedding.

Allegations of Systemic Deception

The complainant, Lavika Gupta, a resident of Gaur City Avenue-1 in central Noida, married Sanyam Jain on January 16, 2024. According to the First Information Report (FIR), the foundation of their marriage was built on multiple falsehoods. Gupta claims she was promised a husband with "thick hair," only to discover post-wedding that Jain is completely bald and uses a hair patch.

The alleged misrepresentations went far beyond aesthetics. Gupta states that Jain concealed his true educational background and actual income. The situation escalated from deception to alleged criminal intimidation and assault. The woman accused her husband of blackmailing her, threatening to release her private photographs, and physically attacking her.

International Trip and Shocking Accusation

The most severe allegation involves an international dimension. Police stated that "the woman has also alleged that her husband assaulted her during a trip abroad and pressured her to bring marijuana from Thailand to India." This claim of being pressured into international drug smuggling adds a grave, transnational layer to the domestic case.

Legal Repercussions and Ongoing Probe

Based on Lavika Gupta's complaint, the police have registered a case against five individuals: her husband Sanyam Jain and four of his relatives. The charges are serious and multifaceted, invoked under the new Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The specific sections applied include:

  • Section 85: Cruelty by husband or relatives of husband.
  • Section 352: Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace.
  • Section 351: Criminal intimidation.
  • Section 316: Criminal breach of trust.
  • Section 115: Assault or criminal force.

Additionally, Sections 3 and 4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act have been invoked. Authorities have confirmed that the investigation into all these allegations is currently ongoing.
