Noida Police Arrest 22-Year-Old for Alleged Petrol Pump Theft and Dragging Incident
In a shocking incident in Noida, police arrested a 22-year-old man on Friday for allegedly hitting a salesman's motorcycle with his Thar and dragging him for over five kilometres in the Dadri bypass area. The arrest followed a dramatic chase and collision that left the victim hospitalized.
Details of the Alleged Crime
Police identified the accused as Harsh, a resident of Bulandshahr. According to RK Gautam, ADCP of Central Noida, Harsh visited his uncle's house in Dujana village before the incident. Around 6.30 pm on Friday, he arrived at a petrol pump near the NTPC cut in the Badalpur area, driving a Thar without a number plate.
The accused asked the salesman, Kuldeep Sharma, to fill the tank and promised to pay online. However, once the tank was full and Kuldeep went to fetch a scanner machine, Harsh started his vehicle and fled without making any payment. Kuldeep immediately began chasing him on his motorcycle.
Violent Confrontation and Dragging
On the Dadri Bypass, when Kuldeep attempted to stop the Thar, Harsh refused to halt, leading to a collision. The salesman fell onto the road, and his motorcycle became stuck in the Thar. The accused then dragged the motorcycle for approximately five kilometres, causing severe distress to Kuldeep, who was trapped in the situation.
Sharma was rushed to a private hospital, where he received medical treatment. Authorities reported that he is currently in stable condition, though the ordeal has left him traumatized.
Police Response and Arrest
After receiving information about the incident, the Badalpur police team swiftly surrounded the area. Harsh was arrested within an hour of the event, and the Thar vehicle was seized by the police as evidence. The quick action by law enforcement highlights their commitment to tackling such brazen crimes in the region.
This case underscores ongoing concerns about road safety and criminal activities in Noida, prompting calls for increased vigilance at petrol pumps and on highways.
