Aman Mann, the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) youth district president in Panipat, has alleged that an unidentified caller demanded Rs 2 crore in extortion money and threatened to harm his family during a WhatsApp call. The caller claimed to be associated with the notorious Rohit Godara gang.

Details of the Extortion Call

Mann, a resident of Bishan Saroop Colony in Panipat, reported to the local police that he received the WhatsApp call from a foreign number on May 23. The caller identified himself as Mahender Delana, a member of the Rohit Godara gang, and demanded Rs 2 crore. The caller also threatened to harm Mann's family if the money was not paid.

Mann stated that he had received similar threatening calls from foreign numbers on multiple occasions in the past. He initially chose not to highlight the issue, but the matter went viral on social media on Saturday, June 21, prompting him to file a complaint.

Police Response and Investigation

Station House Officer (SHO) Devender confirmed that a daily diary report (DDR) has been registered regarding the incident. He assured that appropriate action would be taken based on the investigation. The police are currently tracing the foreign number and verifying the caller's identity.

The Rohit Godara gang is a known organized crime syndicate operating in parts of Haryana and neighboring states. This incident highlights the growing threat of cyber-enabled extortion using international numbers and encrypted messaging platforms like WhatsApp.
