Kadapa Police Take Strict Action Against Repeat Offender
In a decisive move to curb criminal activities, the Kadapa district police have invoked the Preventive Detention Act against a notorious repeat offender. The action targets Dumpala Vinod Kumar, a 33-year-old resident of Pallavolu village in Chapadu mandal.
Long History of Criminal Activities
According to Kadapa Superintendent of Police Shelke Nachiket Viswanath, Vinod Kumar has been involved in a staggering 26 theft and related cases registered across the district since 2012. Despite multiple arrests and jail terms over the years, he persistently continued his unlawful activities, showing no signs of reform.
Police records indicate that his criminal behavior spanned nearly a decade, with cases filed in various parts of Kadapa district. The consistent pattern of offenses finally prompted authorities to take more stringent measures.
Official Action and Warning
The Preventive Detention Act was formally invoked on Tuesday following a detailed report submitted to District Collector Dr. Cherukuri Sridhar. This legal provision allows authorities to detain individuals preventively when they pose a continued threat to public order.
SP Viswanath issued a clear warning about the police department's stance on habitual offenders. He emphasized that law enforcement will maintain close surveillance on individuals with repeated criminal records. The police will promptly initiate Preventive Detention Act proceedings against those who persist in criminal activity and continue to pose a genuine threat to society.
This action represents a shift toward more proactive measures in dealing with repeat offenders who have not responded to conventional legal consequences. The Kadapa police aim to send a strong message that persistent criminal behavior will not be tolerated in the district.
