Pharma Director, Broker Arrested for Drug Export Without NOC

Mumbai: The customs department has arrested the director of a pharmaceutical company and a broking firm director for allegedly attempting to export a controlled substance to the Czech Republic without a mandatory no objection certificate, or NOC, from narcotics authorities.

Arrest Details

The arrested were identified as Venkat Shinde, director of Veeprho Laboratories Private Limited, and Chandrashekhar Sriram Chodankar, director of customs brokerage firm Rocraft Shipping and Logistics Pvt Ltd.

Controlled Substance

The export consignment was found to be phenylacetic acid and its salts, a controlled substance that falls under the NDPS (Regulation of Controlled Substances) Order, 2013, for which an NOC was not obtained.
