The Pimpri police on Monday arrested three workers of an eatery in Pimpri on charges of attempting to kill a customer following an argument over serving food earlier in the day. A 30-year-old resident of Ajmera Colony in Pimpri has lodged a complaint with the Pimpri police.
The arrested suspects have been identified as Abbas Shaikh (30) and Mohammed Shaikh (21), both from Nadia district in West Bengal, and Pankaj Bhumkar (30) of Narhe. They have been booked under sections 109 (murder attempt) and 115 (voluntarily causing hurt) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
An officer from the Pimpri police stated that on Monday, around 2 am, the complainant and his friend went to the eatery and ordered some food. One of the waiters informed them that the eatery was closed and they would not be served. The complainant alleged in his complaint that the waiter spoke to him rudely.
When the complainant asked the waiter to speak properly, an argument ensued. Two other workers from the kitchen joined the waiter, and they were carrying spatulas. They assaulted the complainant and his friend with the spatulas. As the complainant and his friend exited the eatery, the accused followed them. They threatened the people who had gathered outside after hearing the commotion. The trio brandished the spatulas and issued threats.
The officer said the trio fled the scene after the incident. We traced them and took them into custody. Investigations are ongoing.
