PMJ Jewellery Robbery Gang Identified as Bihar Criminals

Hyderabad: Karimnagar police, analyzing CCTV footage, have identified the five-member gang involved in the PMJ jewellery robbery as being from Bihar, with some suspects believed to be repeat offenders linked to property crimes and a murder case.

Investigation Progress

Police have contacted their counterparts in Bihar to gather details about the wanted accused. After searching criminal databases using photos recovered from the jewellery store on Sunday, a few suspects were reportedly matched with known offenders from Bihar.

However, senior officials of the Telangana police have remained tight-lipped and have not disclosed the names of the accused. "We have made progress in the investigation. Based on the leads, our teams are actively tracking the accused. At this point, we cannot share specific details," sources said.

Search Ongoing for Stolen Valuables

Though more than 36 hours have passed since the offence, Karimnagar police are still searching for the armed suspects, who are in possession of 1.60 kg of gold and 122 carats of diamonds. The valuables were stolen after the accused opened fire at four employees of the PMJ jewels store.

Using CCTV footage, police traced the movement of the two bikes used by the robbers towards Gangadhara X roads in Karimnagar. From Gangadhara, they reportedly moved to Gollapalli, followed by the Rayapatnam–Dharmapuri Road. "The accused often used village roads instead of highways, making the investigation more difficult," a source said. Telangana police have already alerted neighbouring districts and also informed Chhattisgarh police to intensify surveillance.

Robbery Details

On Sunday, five robbers entered the store posing as customers. They later brandished pistols, creating panic among the staff. When the sales manager and other employees attempted to resist, the accused opened fire, injuring four people. They then fled with a bag of ornaments on two bikes.

The four PMJ employees who sustained bullet injuries are still undergoing treatment.
