Ponda Police Arrest Second Accused in Cousin Murder Case

Ponda police on Monday arrested the second accused, 22-year-old Gaurish Naik from Borim, who fled after allegedly killing his cousin, 58-year-old Deepak Naik, over a frivolous quarrel on Sunday.

Details of the Incident

Gaurish and his brother Saideep attacked Deepak after a verbal spat that started with the victim placing roof tiles at the side of the house. Both brothers claimed the tiles inconvenienced them. Gaurish allegedly struck Deepak with an axe.

Arrest and Remand

Saideep was arrested shortly after the crime. Police said Gaurish was caught hiding at his maternal aunt's house in the remote area of Torla-Shiroda. The judicial magistrate first class, Ponda, has remanded Saideep in police custody.
