In a significant crackdown on educational fraud, the Kareli police in collaboration with the Special Task Force (STF) of Prayagraj apprehended a key accused and unearthed a substantial stockpile of counterfeit academic records. The operation, carried out on Friday, marks a crucial step in dismantling document forgery networks active in the district.
Accused Nabbed from Fake Education Centre
The joint team successfully arrested the wanted individual, identified as Mohammad Taruq, a resident of GTB Nagar in Kareli. The arrest was executed from his operational base, an office functioning under the guise of the Savitri Bai Phule Medicare Education Research Centre. This fake centre was located at 7B, near Hina Gold Bakery in Prayagraj.
Massive Haul of Forged Documents and Equipment Seized
During a thorough search of the premises, authorities made startling discoveries. The raid led to the recovery of a large cache of 68 forged mark sheets and certificates. These fake documents purportedly belonged to various educational institutions. Furthermore, the police confiscated the tools of the trade from the accused's possession, which included 1 mobile phone, a pen drive, and 1 computer CPU. Investigators stated that these electronic devices were allegedly used to create, modify, and store the fraudulent documents.
Ongoing Probe and Legal Action Initiated
Following the arrest and seizure, a formal case has been registered at the Kareli police station. The charges have been framed under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Information Technology Act. The police have emphasized that this action is part of their sustained efforts to curb organized rackets involved in document forgery that undermine the credibility of educational qualifications. A detailed investigation is currently underway to uncover the full extent of the network, identify potential clients, and trace the origin and distribution channels of the counterfeit certificates.
