Bokaro: A private school principal in Giridih district was arrested on Saturday for allegedly molesting a 14-year-old student repeatedly over the past six months, police said.
The case came to light when the student refused to attend school and eventually disclosed her ordeal to her family. According to the complaint, the principal allegedly threatened to expel the student if she informed anyone about the crime.
A police officer said, 'In the FIR, the girl has named the principal of the private school as the accused. He has been arrested and sent to jail.'
The girl alleged that on April 22, she went to the principal's office to collect her mark sheet. After handing it over, the principal called her back into his chamber, where he allegedly molested her.
When she informed her family, they approached the local police station and lodged a formal complaint. The incident was reported to Giridih Superintendent of Police Bimal Kumar, following which action against the principal was ordered.
Residents expressed anger over the incident. Ward councillors joined the family in demanding strict punishment for the accused. Police said further investigation is underway.
