Property Dispute Turns Fatal in Karkala, Brother Arrested

A property dispute between two brothers in Karkala took a tragic turn, resulting in the death of one sibling and the arrest of the other. According to police officials, the incident occurred on Saturday evening at Mithabettu, Hiriyangadi, in Kasaba village, Karkala.

Background of the Dispute

The conflict arose between Richard D'Souza and his brother Herald D'Souza over a house and land dispute. The altercation escalated, leading to a violent assault. As per the complaint filed by Jecinta D'Souza on Sunday, Herald allegedly attacked Richard with a wooden rod or a similar weapon, inflicting fatal injuries.

Legal Proceedings

Based on the complaint, a case was registered at Karkala Town police station under Section 103 of the BNS. Acting swiftly under the guidance of DSP Vijayaprasad, a police team led by CPI Ajmath Ali, along with PSI Prasanna MS (Karkala Rural), PSI Muralidhar Nayak, PSI Shivakumar (Karkala Town), and other staff, traced and arrested the accused, Herald D'Souza. He will be produced before the court for further legal proceedings.
