Family Protests Alleged Deliberate Killing of Toll Plaza Guard in Bijnor
Two days after a toll plaza security guard in his 50s was run over by a car at Nagina toll plaza, his family and villagers staged a protest in Syohara town on Friday, alleging deliberate killing and demanding strict action against the accused. The family also refused to perform the last rites and demanded that toll management representatives be called before the funeral could proceed.
Circle officer Rajesh Kumar Solanki said, “Anoop Kumar of Saharanpur was arrested after a case was lodged against him under BNS sections 352 (intentional insults meant to provoke a breach of public peace), 351 (1) (criminal intimidation) and 109 (1) (attempt to murder).”
Administrative officials reached the spot and held talks with the bereaved family and the toll contractor over compensation. The family alleged that the driver, Kumar, intentionally ran over Mahipal Fauji after he intervened in an argument between the accused and a female worker at the plaza. Fauji is survived by wife and two sons.
