Pune Road Rage: Parking Dispute Turns Violent

A minor argument over stopping a car on a road in Walhekarwadi, Chinchwad, escalated into a violent confrontation on Tuesday night. The dispute between two men led them to summon their associates, resulting in a public disturbance that prompted the Chinchwad police to file separate complaints.

Incident Details

A 35-year-old owner of a police recruitment training institute in Walhekarwadi and a 22-year-old student from the same area lodged cross-complaints against each other. Police Sub-Inspector Kiran Balip of Chinchwad police stated that the incident occurred around 11:30 PM at Jijamata Chowk in Walhekarwadi.

Institute Owner's Complaint

According to the institute owner, he saw a car parked in the middle of the road at Jijamata Chowk and asked the driver, a student, why he had stopped there. Enraged by this, the driver allegedly abused him, punched him, and threatened to kill him. The complainant further alleged that when students from his institute came to his aid, the driver and his friends assaulted them as well.

Student's Counter-Complaint

When the student asked him to drive properly, the owner became furious and called students from his institute. The students began assaulting the complainant, and when his friends intervened, they too were attacked.

Legal Action

The police have registered cases under sections 115 (voluntarily causing hurt), 189, 190 (rioting), 351 (criminal intimidation), and 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Notices have been issued to the accused in both cases.

Police Warning

Sub-Inspector Balip noted that students were involved in both incidents and warned them about the serious consequences of criminal cases. He emphasized that a criminal record could hinder their chances of securing government jobs and even obtaining a passport.
