Pune youth killed with baseball bat over chat with girlfriend

Pune: A 20-year-old youth was found dead at Gokhalenagar on Wednesday morning. The Chatushrungi police identified the deceased as Harsh Machindra Jadhav, a resident of Gokhalenagar. Later in the day, the police arrested Abhishek Pawar, Prathmesh Dhotre, and Maruti Devkar on charges of murder.

Incident Details

According to the Chatushrungi police, Jadhav was sitting in an autorickshaw parked near his home at around 2 am. The three suspects allegedly approached the rickshaw, pulled him out, and assaulted him to death with a baseball bat.

Motive Behind the Attack

Aniket Pote, assistant inspector of the Chatushrungi police, told TOI, “A friend of the deceased used to continuously chat with a woman from the latter’s cellphone. The woman was a girlfriend of one of the suspects. The arrested person did not like that his girlfriend was chatting with Jadhav’s friend and decided to teach the friend a lesson.”
