Rajasthan Assembly Evacuated Again After Bomb Threat, Hoax Declared
Rajasthan Assembly Evacuated After Bomb Threat

The Rajasthan Legislative Assembly was evacuated again on Monday after an email claimed that five RDX bombs had been planted in the building and would explode at noon. However, a nearly three-hour search found no suspicious object, and the threat was declared a hoax.

Officials said the email was received at 9:09 am and warned authorities to evacuate VIPs, staff, and visitors. Police cleared the premises as a precaution, and teams from the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS), Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS), SDRF, and the fire brigade carried out a room-to-room search.

“The entire premises were sanitised and employees were moved outside while security agencies carried out a room-to-room search,” a senior police officer said.

This was the third bomb threat to the Assembly in the past two weeks. Cyber teams are working to trace the origin of the email and identify the sender. Officials said surveillance and access checks around the complex have been strengthened.

Leader of Opposition Tikaram Jully reached the Assembly with other MLAs but said they were not allowed in during the sweep. “Dogs are searching for bombs inside, while we and the staff are searching for shade outside in this scorching heat,” he said, questioning why the sender of repeated threats had not been traced.

“This has become routine. This is the third threat in two weeks. Law and order in the state has collapsed,” Jully said.

The previous two threats also turned out to be hoaxes after searches found nothing suspicious.
