Rajkot Woman Alleges Jewellery Trader Raped, Blackmailed Her

A 34-year-old married woman in Rajkot has filed a complaint with Aji Dam police, alleging that a local imitation jewellery trader repeatedly raped her and blackmailed her after promising to give her employment. Police have registered an offence against the accused under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

How the Alleged Crime Unfolded

According to the First Information Report (FIR), the woman was seeking work in the imitation jewellery sector to support her family when she came into contact with the accused, who frequented her neighbourhood for business. She alleged that in August last year, he called her to his house on the pretext of urgent work. There, he allegedly raped her and took objectionable photographs without her consent.

Blackmail and Continued Exploitation

The complainant stated that the accused then used the photographs to blackmail her and subjected her to continual sexual exploitation. She further alleged that he forced her to participate in video calls while bathing and recorded the footage, which was then used to intimidate and blackmail her.

Threats and Legal Action

The woman alleged that the accused recently began pressuring her to divorce her husband and threatened to kill her son if she failed to comply with his demands. Unable to endure the alleged intimidation and exploitation any longer, she approached police and filed a complaint.

Police Investigation Underway

Police began an investigation after registering an FIR against the accused under Sections 64(2)(m) (rape by a person in a position of trust or authority) and 351(3) (criminal intimidation) of the BNS. No arrests have been reported as of now.
