Police Seize Rs 1.5 Crore Liquor in Dausa, Bust Interstate Smuggling Racket
Rs 1.5 Crore Liquor Seized on Delhi-Mumbai Expressway

In a significant operation against interstate smuggling, law enforcement authorities in Rajasthan intercepted a truck on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway and confiscated a massive consignment of illicit liquor valued at approximately Rs 1.5 crore. The bust, which led to the arrest of one individual, unfolded in the Dausa district, officials confirmed on Saturday.

Joint Operation Uncovers Hidden Consignment

The successful seizure was the result of a coordinated effort between the Anti-Gang Task Force (AGTF) and the Dausa Sadar police. Acting on intelligence, the teams stopped a suspicious truck for inspection. To the naked eye, the vehicle was merely transporting 415 bags of rice. However, a thorough search revealed a cleverly concealed stash underneath this legitimate cover.

Hidden beneath the rice bags, police discovered 1,071 cartons of premium liquor manufactured in Punjab. The seized stock included popular brands such as Royal Challenge, Royal Stag, and McDowell's. The elaborate concealment method pointed towards a sophisticated smuggling operation aiming to evade detection across state borders.

Arrest and Additional Recoveries

The police apprehended the truck driver, identified as Dinesh Jat, a resident of Barmer. He was allegedly a key player in the interstate smuggling network. Alongside the liquor haul, officials also recovered Rs 60,000 in cash from the accused. The truck used in the illegal transportation has been impounded as part of the ongoing investigation.

Route and Investigation Details

Preliminary investigations by the police have shed light on the intended route of the smuggled goods. The consignment was reportedly being transported from Sirsa in Haryana to Gujarat. This interstate route is often exploited by smuggling syndicates due to varying liquor laws and taxation policies between states, creating a lucrative black market.

The operation marks a substantial victory for the AGTF and Dausa police, disrupting a major supply chain of illicit alcohol. Authorities have indicated that the investigation is ongoing to uncover the broader network, including the suppliers and receivers involved in this racket. This seizure underscores the continued vigilance of Rajasthan police against organized crime operating on national highways.
