Ludhiana Car Rental Owner Faces Rs 2 Crore Ransom Demand
Police in Ludhiana have taken swift action after a car rental owner received a terrifying ransom call. The incident unfolded in Mullanpur, where the owner faced a demand for Rs 2 crore. This shocking event led to the booking of notorious gangster Kaushal Chaudhary in the FIR.
Gangsters Named in FIR Along with Unidentified Aides
Apart from Chaudhary, the police have also booked Pawan Shokeen and Mohabbat Randhawa. Their unidentified aides are included in the case as well. The FIR details how the car rental owner received a WhatsApp call from a foreign number. The caller identified himself as Pawan Shokeen and made the extortion demand.
The caller issued a clear threat: they would prevent the owner from operating his vehicles on the road if he failed to pay the money. This call came just six hours after two assailants on a bike opened fire at the luxury car rental office. The Ludhiana Rural Police moved quickly to register the case at the Mullanpur Dakha Police station.
Kaushal Chaudhary's Criminal Background
Kaushal Chaudhary is no stranger to the law. He faces around 30 FIRs across various police stations. Authorities link him to an organised crime network. Reports also suggest he has ties with the Bambiha Gang.
In a previous case, police brought Chaudhary on a production warrant from Gurugram. They questioned him about a firing incident at an ex-army man's house. That case involved a Rs 5 crore extortion call, showing a pattern of high-stakes criminal activity.
Three Rohit Godara Gang Members Arrested After Firefight
In a separate but related development, Ludhiana police arrested three operatives from the Rohit Godara gang. This happened on Monday following an intense exchange of fire. The arrested men were wanted in a firing case registered on January 6 at the Haibowal police station.
That case involved brazen firing at the shutter of a readymade garments shop in the Haibowal area. Members of the Rohit Godara gang allegedly carried out the attack. Police teams set up a checkpoint in the Ladian–Jassian area after receiving specific inputs.
"We received information about three masked suspects," said Ludhiana Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma. "When they tried to break the checkpoint and opened fire on our party, we fired back in self-defence." The police statement confirmed the successful apprehension of the suspects.
These incidents highlight the ongoing challenges law enforcement faces against organised crime in the region. The police continue their investigations to ensure public safety and bring all involved to justice.
