A 35-year-old man was killed in a road accident on Sultanwind Road in Amritsar on Friday evening after a speeding sand-laden tipper truck allegedly struck his scooter. The victim, identified as Gursimran Singh, a resident of Drummawala Bazaar, died on the spot after being run over by the heavy vehicle, police said.

According to eyewitnesses, the overloaded tipper was being driven rashly and at high speed. The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle and rammed it into the scooter.
