Self-Immolation Attempt at UP Police Station Over Brother's Arrest

A 30-year-old man, identified as Mordhwaj, attempted self-immolation inside the Dhanari police station in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, on Thursday evening. He sustained burns covering 25-30% of his body, from his face to his feet.

Incident Details

The incident occurred after Mordhwaj's brother, Lakhpat Singh, was detained by police along with another man following a clash during a tonsure ceremony in Bagder village on Wednesday.

On Thursday evening, Mordhwaj arrived at the police station and argued with officers, insisting on his brother's innocence. When he realized that the police were booking the men for breach of peace, he poured petrol on himself and set himself alight.
