Shivamogga Court Bomb Threat Turns Out to Be Hoax
A bomb threat email sent to the Shivamogga district court in Karnataka, purportedly signed by ‘Ajmal Kasab’, has been deemed a hoax after a thorough police inspection. The email, received on 24 June 2026, prompted immediate security protocols at the court premises.
Police Conducted Extensive Search
Following the threat, police teams conducted a detailed search of the court complex, including vehicles belonging to lawyers, staff, and members of the public. The inspection covered all areas of the premises, but no bomb or suspicious items were found anywhere, confirming the threat as false.
No Disruption to Court Proceedings
The hoax caused temporary concern but did not disrupt court operations significantly. Authorities are investigating the origin of the email, though no arrests have been reported yet. The use of the name ‘Ajmal Kasab’—the convicted terrorist from the 2008 Mumbai attacks—appears to be an attempt to amplify fear.
Similar Hoax Threats in Past
This incident is not isolated; Indian courts have received multiple bomb threats via email in recent years, often traced to pranksters or malicious actors. In 2025, a similar hoax targeted the Delhi High Court, leading to a brief evacuation. Security agencies continue to urge caution and are working to track down the sender.
According to local police officials, “The email was immediately treated as a serious threat, but after a thorough check, we can confirm it was a hoax. Investigations are ongoing to identify the perpetrator.”
