Punjab Police SIT Uncovers Discrepancy in Guru Granth Sahib Saroop Records

A Special Investigation Team from the Punjab Police conducted a detailed inspection at Rasokhana Raja Sahib Nabh Kanwal. This site is located in village Mazara Nau Abad near Banga within Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district. The inspection took place on Wednesday, January 14.

Inspection Follows Religious Protocol

Police officials stated that the team followed proper religious procedures during the visit. They performed an ardas in the presence of the management committee members and granthi Singhs. This action was part of an investigation linked to FIR No. 168, which was registered on December 17, 2025, at Police Station C-Division in Amritsar.

Significant Findings During the Inspection

The SIT discovered a total of 169 holy saroops of Sri Guru Granth Sahib at the Rasokhana. Out of these, only 30 saroops had documented records. The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee supplied these 30 saroops upon request.

Further records show that ten saroops came from Gurdwara Sahib Patshahi Satvin at village Dusanjh Khurd. Another twenty saroops were supplied through Gurdwara Sahib at village Mazara Nau Abad. Both villages are in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district. Bills dated January 8, 2009, support these transactions.

Major Discrepancy in Documentation

Police authorities highlighted a critical issue. The remaining 139 saroops lack any supporting records with the management committee of Rasokhana Raja Sahib Nabh Kanwal. This finding points to a significant discrepancy in the official documentation.

Investigators have already recorded statements from the committee members regarding this matter. The SIT is now pursuing a more in-depth investigation to understand the origins and handling of these unrecorded saroops.

The case involves alleged offences under several sections of the Indian Penal Code. These sections include 295, 295-A, 409, 465, and 120-B. The ongoing investigation aims to clarify the circumstances surrounding the unaccounted saroops.
