Six Arrested in Palnadu Gold Robbery, Rs 60 Lakh Ornaments Recovered

In a significant breakthrough, the Karampudi police in Palnadu district apprehended six individuals in connection with a daylight robbery where gold ornaments worth Rs 60 lakh were stolen. The arrested persons have been identified as Bandaru Ajith (25), K Sasi Kumar (22), K Sai Kiran (24), A Nikhil Mahesh (20), G Pawan (30), and G Sambaiah (27), all hailing from various parts of Guntur district. The police recovered 566.60 grams of gold ornaments, along with a Yamaha MT-15 and a Hero Glamour motorcycle, from their possession at the NSP canal bund.

Police Reveal Details of the Heist

Addressing the media on Sunday, Palnadu Superintendent of Police B Krishnarao disclosed that the accused had been targeting individuals transporting gold to jewellery shops. The victim, Yakkala Srinivasa Rao from Vinukonda, had arrived in Karampudi to supply ready-made gold ornaments to local jewellery stores, a routine he followed every Monday. According to the investigation, the crime was orchestrated by Gosula Sambayya, an employee at a local jewellery shop. Acting on his plan, four of the accused attacked the trader and fled with the bag containing gold ornaments on motorcycles.

Investigation and Arrests

Based on the victim's complaint, a case was registered at the Karampudi police station. The police teams, under the supervision of Gurazala DSP M Maheswara Rao and Karampudi Circle Inspector P Sharath Babu, launched an investigation using CCTV footage and technical evidence. During interrogation, the accused confessed that financial needs and bad habits drove them to commit the robbery for quick money.

The Superintendent of Police appreciated the investigation team, including SI Vasu, special police units, the IT core, and the clues team, for solving the case and recovering the stolen property. The police have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to prevent such incidents in the future.
