Son Kills Father With Spade Over Property Dispute

A long-standing dispute over the division of ancestral property escalated into a fatal attack in Atraura village under Mahigawan police station limits on Saturday. Police reported that a man struck and killed his 69-year-old father with a spade.

Incident Details

According to ACP BKT Vikas Pandey, the conflict involved Ram Kumar Yadav (69) and his son Mahendra Yadav (48). The two had been at odds for an extended period over the partition of ancestral land. On Saturday, Mahendra confronted Ram Kumar while the latter was working in his field. The argument quickly turned violent, with Mahendra striking his father on the head with a spade, causing severe injuries.

Medical Response and Death

Ram Kumar was initially taken to a nearby hospital and later referred to King George’s Medical University in Lucknow for advanced treatment. However, he succumbed to his injuries, police confirmed.

Legal Proceedings

Mahigawan police have initiated inquest and post-mortem proceedings. ACP Pandey stated, "A case has been registered." Authorities are investigating the circumstances leading to the attack.
