In a significant crackdown on organized crime, the Special Task Force (STF) of Ambala unit successfully arrested four wanted shooters linked to the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang on Saturday. The operation also led to the recovery of a cache of illegal firearms, averting potential violent crimes planned in Haryana and Jharkhand.
Coordinated Raid Nets Wanted Criminals
Acting on a reliable tip-off, the STF Ambala team executed a meticulously planned cordon and search operation in the Umri area near Le-Bye GT Road. The swift action resulted in the apprehension of all four targeted individuals. A search of the accused led to the recovery of three illegal country-made pistols and seven live cartridges, pointing towards preparations for serious criminal activity.
Foiled Extortion Plot and Ranchi Conspiracy
Preliminary investigations by the police have uncovered alarming details. The arrested shooters were allegedly in the advanced stages of planning a firing incident at a toll plaza located on the Rewari-Narnaul highway. This act of violence was intended purely for extortion purposes. Furthermore, the probe revealed that a separate conspiracy to execute a major criminal incident in Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, was also being hatched by the gang members.
Criminal History and Gang Strengthening Efforts
The investigation has shed light on the dangerous profiles of the arrested accused. Some of them have a history of involvement in heinous crimes and had served jail time. After securing bail, they reportedly returned to the world of organized crime with renewed vigor. All four were actively working to commit violent acts with the clear objective of strengthening the influence and reach of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang in the region.
A formal case has been registered against the accused at the Sadar police station in Thanesar, Kurukshetra. The police have obtained remand for the individuals and are conducting intensive interrogations. The focus of the questioning is to unravel their wider criminal network, identify associates, and uncover any other potential targets they may have been planning to strike.
