A sub-inspector posted at Loni Katra police station in Barabanki district has been accused of assaulting a 14-year-old boy during an attempt to intervene in a dispute between children in Daulatpur village. The boy’s family has lodged a complaint on the Chief Minister’s Jan Sunwai (public grievance) portal, seeking a fair inquiry and strict action against the officer concerned.
Incident Details
The victim, identified as Vimal, son of Satya Sharan Verma and a Class VIII student, was reportedly on his way to the family’s agricultural field when the alleged incident took place.
Family members claimed that a scuffle had already broken out between two children in the village. Senior sub-inspector Santosh Kumar Rai, who had reached the spot to resolve the dispute, allegedly assaulted Vimal during the intervention.
Family's Allegations
The family maintains that the teenager had no connection with the altercation and was merely passing through the area on his way to the fields. Despite this, they alleged, the police officer beat the boy.
Police Response
Superintendent of Police Barabanki Arpit Vijayvargiya said that the dispute involved two groups over a piece of land. “FIRs were registered on the complaints of both the groups, and a probe is being conducted by a circle officer,” he said.
