Talati caught demanding Rs 40,000 bribe for NOC

The talati of Talav Chora gram panchayat in Chikli taluka of Navsari and his aide were caught for allegedly seeking a bribe of Rs 40,000 to issue a no-objection certificate (NOC). The Surat unit of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) laid a trap and the Valsad-Dang ACB inspector nabbed the two accused individuals.

Details of the Case

According to details, the complainant had applied for an NOC to excavate soil from his land and transport it elsewhere. In return for issuing the NOC, along with the map and the ‘pedhinama’ record, talati Kamlesh Desai, 41, demanded Rs 40,000 from the complainant. The complainant approached the ACB and lodged a complaint.

ACB Operation

The ACB asked the complainant to contact the accused and laid a trap at Chikhli Gram Panchayat Shopping Centre on Thursday. On Desai’s instructions, his aide Gokul Patel, 57, arrived there and accepted the bribe amount from the complainant. The ACB team caught the duo and registered an offence.
