A tragic hit-and-run incident in Gurgaon's Farrukhnagar area on Thursday evening claimed the life of a teenage labourer and left three of his companions injured. The victims were walking back from work when an unidentified speeding vehicle struck them from behind and fled the scene.
Details of the Tragic Incident
The accident occurred between 5:00 PM and 5:30 PM on Thursday near Mehsana, on the road leading to the Heli Mandi market. The deceased has been identified as Namesh, a 16-year-old resident of Badaun district in Uttar Pradesh. According to police, Namesh and the three other labourers were returning to their rented accommodation after a day's work when the vehicle hit them.
Namesh died on the spot due to the impact. The three injured labourers were rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. A police official stated that a preliminary inquiry suggests the vehicle was being driven recklessly. "The victims were walking on the side of the road when they were hit from behind. The driver did not stop and escaped," the official said.
Police Investigation and Legal Action
Police teams reached the site promptly after receiving information. They cordoned off the area and facilitated the shifting of the injured. A crime team and forensic experts examined the scene to collect crucial evidence.
The body of Namesh was sent for a post-mortem examination, which was conducted on Friday, after which it was handed over to his grieving family. Authorities have registered a case at the Farrukhnagar police station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The charges include Section 281 (rash driving) and Section 106 (causing death by negligence).

In their pursuit of justice, the police are actively working to identify the vehicle involved. The investigation strategy includes reviewing CCTV footage from nearby roads and markets and questioning local residents who might have witnessed the accident or have information about the fleeing vehicle.
