Three juveniles have been apprehended for the murder of a 19-year-old man in west Delhi's Tilak Nagar area, following a dispute over a paltry sum of Rs 150. The victim, identified as Paras, was stabbed multiple times on the night of June 21 and later succumbed to his injuries in hospital, police said on Wednesday.
Incident and Immediate Response
Police received a PCR call from the victim's sister, who reported that her brother had been stabbed and was receiving treatment at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital. A police team rushed to the scene and discovered blood stains near the crime site. The sister stated she found Paras lying injured and unconscious near their residence, with no knowledge of the attackers.
Investigation and Arrests
Authorities scanned CCTV footage from the locality and gathered local intelligence, which led them to three juveniles. They were apprehended from a park in the Chowkhandi area on Tuesday. During interrogation, the juveniles disclosed that Paras had borrowed Rs 150 from one of them approximately 40-45 days ago and had refused to return the amount. The dispute escalated over time, culminating in the fatal assault.
Sequence of Events
According to police, on the night of the incident, the juveniles confronted Paras about the money. After an altercation, he fled, but the trio tracked him down again around 12:15 am. They caught him and assaulted him, with one juvenile repeatedly stabbing him with a knife, inflicting fatal injuries. A senior police officer said, "Police scanned CCTV footage from the locality and developed leads through local intelligence. These efforts led them to three juveniles, who were apprehended from a park in the Chowkhandi area on Tuesday." The investigation is ongoing.
