Teenager's Head Discovered Hanging in Sonbhadra Forest, Body Missing

In a disturbing and mysterious incident, the severed head of a 16-year-old boy was found hanging from a tendu tree in a forest in Sonbhadra district, Uttar Pradesh. The discovery was made on Tuesday in the Patgadi Tola area of Kota gram panchayat, within the jurisdiction of the Chopan police station.

Grisly Discovery in Remote Forest

Villagers first spotted the gruesome scene in a forest approximately 3 kilometers from the Varanasi-Shaktinagar state highway. The teenager's head was suspended with a belt, while the portion below the neck was completely missing. At some distance from the tree, scattered clothes and bones were found lying on the ground, adding to the macabre nature of the discovery.

Upon receiving information, Chopan Station House Officer Akhilesh Kumar Mishra promptly arrived at the location with a police team and forensic experts. The authorities secured the head, clothing, and other remains, subsequently transporting them to the district hospital for a thorough post-mortem examination.

Identification and Background of the Deceased

Based on the clothing recovered from the site and the physical characteristics of the head, the victim was identified by his elder brother Ravi as Mangal Prasad, the 16-year-old son of Rambilas from Jawari Dand Kota. According to family members, Mangal Prasad had left his home in anger on January 19, sparking concern among relatives.

After an extensive search failed to locate him, a formal missing person report was filed at the Chopan police station. The family's worst fears were confirmed with the grim discovery in the forest.

Police Investigation and Initial Findings

SHO Akhilesh Kumar Mishra stated that, based on preliminary observations, the body appeared to be approximately 20 to 25 days old. This timeline aligns with the date the teenager went missing, suggesting a possible connection between his disappearance and the tragic outcome.

The police have launched a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mangal Prasad's death. Forensic analysis of the recovered evidence is expected to provide crucial insights into the cause of death and the events leading up to this horrific incident.

Authorities are exploring all possible angles, including foul play, accidental death, or other factors that might explain why only the head was found hanging while the rest of the body was missing. The remote location of the forest has posed challenges for the investigation, but police remain committed to uncovering the truth.

This tragic case has sent shockwaves through the local community, highlighting concerns about safety and the need for thorough policing in rural areas. As the investigation continues, residents await answers that might bring closure to the grieving family.
