Patna: Former minister Tej Pratap Yadav has been named in an FIR registered at Patna's Patliputra police station following allegations of criminal trespass, intimidation, and threats made by Akash Yadav, the brother of a woman allegedly linked to him, police said.
Court-Directed Investigation
The case, registered on court orders, has prompted a police investigation into claims that Tej and his associates attempted to forcibly enter Akash's residence and later issued threats over the phone.
Incident Details
According to Akash, the incident occurred on June 6 while he was away on a visit to Khatushyam. He alleged that Tej, accompanied by his associate Motilal Yadav, arrived at his house in Patliputra and tried to gain entry forcibly. Akash claimed that when family members objected, threats were issued, including warnings that his niece, the woman's daughter, could be kidnapped and that there would be serious consequences if the family resisted.
Phone Threats
Akash further alleged that after the incident, he received a phone call from Motilal, who warned him not to disclose what had happened. Shortly afterward, another caller identifying himself as Mohit allegedly claimed to be associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and cautioned Akash against making statements against Tej. Akash maintains that he and his family were threatened with dire consequences.
Legal Proceedings
The complainant said he submitted a written application at Patliputra police station on June 10 but no FIR was registered. He subsequently approached the Patna civil court on June 17, after which legal proceedings began. Akash has submitted audio recordings of the alleged threats as evidence, claiming they contain conversations intended to pressure and intimidate him.
Police Response
Patna ASP (Law and Order-II) Divyanjali Jaiswal confirmed that an FIR was registered on Thursday. She said the complaint mentions threatening phone calls. “Two officers are currently probing the allegations and a team will be formed soon to further investigate the matter. Police are examining the authenticity of the voice recordings and verifying all evidence presented in the case,” she told TOI on Friday.
