Fatal Collision on Rajiv Rahadari

Hyderabad: Three persons died and a child was injured after a car returning to the city from Godavarikhani rammed into an oncoming truck on Rajiv Rahadari in Medchal early Thursday.

The deceased were identified as Chandrasekhar (33), a railway junior assistant from Malkajgiri, his wife Rekha (30), and their two-year-old nephew Nihal. The couple’s son, Lohit (7), sustained a leg fracture and is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital.

Details of the Incident

The family had left Kondagattu Hanuman temple around 9 pm on Wednesday after visiting relatives in Godavarikhani. While the couple, their son and nephew were traveling in one car, Rekha’s brother Rajasekhar, her sister Jaya, and her children Nikhil and Lohita were following them in another vehicle.

“Their car was about two kilometers ahead. When we reached Muraharipalli in Medchal around 1 am, we saw that it had met with an accident,” said Rajasekhar in his complaint to the police.

Police Investigation

According to Medchal police, the car allegedly crossed the median and hit a truck coming from the opposite direction. “Chandrasekhar died on the spot, while Rekha and Nihal were declared brought dead at hospital. We suspect the driver may have dozed off,” said Medchal detective inspector P Kiran.

On the complaint of Rajasekhar, a case was registered under Sections 106 (1) (causing death due to negligence) and 125 (a) (causing hurt by an act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the BNS. Bodies of the victims were handed over to the family members after the post-mortem examination.
