A devastating road accident on the Etawah-Bareilly Highway in Farrukhabad claimed the lives of three members of a family and left 10 others injured on Monday afternoon. The incident occurred near the Jamapur turn when a DCM truck collided head-on with an overloaded auto-rickshaw.
Victims Identified
The deceased were identified as Satendra Kumar (36), his wife Tanu (30), and their 16-month-old son Yuvraj. According to police, the impact was so severe that all three died on the spot. Among the 10 injured, five were reported to be in critical condition and were rushed to Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in Lucknow for advanced treatment.
Cause of the Accident
Preliminary investigations revealed that the auto-rickshaw was carrying passengers three times its capacity, traveling from Farrukhabad to Shahjahanpur. Near Samridhi Cold Storage at the Jamapur turn, the driver made a wrong turn, leading to a violent collision with an oncoming DCM truck. The force of the crash caused extensive damage to both vehicles.
Traffic Disruption and Rescue Operation
The accident resulted in a long traffic jam on the highway. Police and local residents worked together to clear the wreckage. A loader was used to remove the damaged vehicles and restore normal traffic flow. Authorities have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
