In Trichy, the Woraiyur police have arrested an 18-year-old youth and three juveniles for allegedly assaulting a father and son duo over personal enmity. The incident occurred in the Puthur area, where the accused had earlier been caught trespassing.
Details of the Incident
The police identified the main accused as D Tamilselvan, a resident of Woraiyur Mettu Street, along with three juvenile accomplices. On the night of April 24, the group scaled a private compound wall near the house of G Arun, 22, from Viswanaicken Pettai Street in Puthur. Arun and his family caught them red-handed and reprimanded them before sending them home after an inquiry.
However, feeling insulted by the reprimand, Tamilselvan and the juveniles returned to the spot on the night of April 25. They allegedly abused Arun and his father, Ganesan, and assaulted them with a wooden log. The police stated that Ganesan sustained injuries in the attack. The accused also threatened the father-son duo before fleeing.
Legal Action Taken
Based on a complaint filed by Arun, the police arrested Tamilselvan and remanded him in judicial custody. The three juveniles were produced before the juvenile justice board authorities and subsequently accommodated in a home for juveniles.
The police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Juvenile Justice Act. Investigations are ongoing to determine if the accused have any prior criminal record.
