A major road accident in Coimbatore district resulted in a truck being completely gutted by fire in the early hours of Sunday. The incident occurred after the vehicle's brakes reportedly failed, leading to a collision with a roadside electric pole.
Early Morning Crash Sparks Blaze
The dramatic event unfolded on the Annur-Karumathampatti Road near Karumathampatti. Around 3 am on Sunday, the speeding truck lost control. According to a police officer on the scene, the primary cause was a sudden brake failure. "The truck rammed the electric pole after its brakes failed, and the driver lost control of the vehicle," the officer stated.
Driver's Narrow Escape and Rescue Operation
In a fortunate turn of events, the truck driver managed to jump out of the vehicle to safety moments before it was engulfed in flames. Alerted about the accident and the ensuing fire, fire and rescue personnel rushed to the spot promptly. They worked to douse the fierce flames; however, the intensity of the fire meant the heavy vehicle was completely gutted by the time it was brought under control.

While the driver escaped unharmed, the truck was reduced to a charred shell, causing significant material loss.
