Bengaluru Railway Police Arrest Two Men for Drugging and Robbing Passenger
The Baiyappanahalli railway police in Bengaluru have made a significant arrest. They captured two individuals accused of a disturbing crime on a train. The men allegedly drugged and robbed a passenger during a journey earlier this month.
Habitual Offenders from Bihar Apprehended
Police identified the arrested men as Safar and Sataram. Both hail from Bihar. Authorities described them as habitual offenders. Officers are currently interrogating the duo. They want to determine if the men have links to other similar cases.
How the Crime Unfolded on the Train
The incident occurred on January 2. The victim, Krishna Kumar, is a labourer from Bihar working in Bengaluru's KR Puram area. He was travelling to Danapur in Patna by train. During the journey, he started a conversation with the two accused.
The men introduced themselves as fellow Biharis. They gradually earned Krishna Kumar's trust. At a subsequent railway station halt, the accused stepped off the train. They returned with cups of tea.
The accused offered one cup to Krishna Kumar. Seeing them also drinking tea, he accepted the beverage without suspicion. However, police allege his tea contained a sedative.
Krishna Kumar soon lost consciousness. The two men then took his belongings and fled. They stole a gold chain, approximately Rs 4,000 in cash, and his personal bag.
Police Investigation and Arrest
Krishna Kumar filed a formal complaint after the robbery. The Baiyappanahalli railway police registered a case based on his statement. An investigation began immediately.
Police later arrested Safar and Sataram. The arrest happened while the duo was allegedly attempting to target another passenger in a similar manner. This suggests a pattern of criminal behavior.
Safety Advisory for Train Passengers
In light of this incident, railway police have issued a safety reminder. They strongly advise all train passengers to exercise caution.
- Avoid accepting food or drinks from strangers.
- Remain vigilant throughout your journey.
- Report any suspicious activity to railway authorities immediately.
This case highlights the risks present during long-distance travel. It serves as a cautionary tale for passengers sharing compartments with unfamiliar people.
