Two Bengaluru Cops Assaulted by Four Men During Night Patrol

Bengaluru: Two police constables were assaulted by four unidentified men during a night patrol in Akashvani Layout in the early hours of May 1. According to the complaint filed by constable Rudrappa M Hanumar, 36, he and his colleague, constable Hanumanth Alagundi, 29, sustained injuries in the attack.

Incident Details

Around 3 am, the constables reached Akashvani Layout Main Road in Dasarahalli and found the group consuming alcohol in their SUV, a Mitsubishi Pajero. The constables asked them to leave the area. In response, one of the men started abusing the constables. When Rudrappa went to fetch a lathi from his bike, the men stepped out of the vehicle and caught hold of both Rudrappa and Hanumanth. They manhandled the constables, pushed them to the ground, and allegedly tore their police uniforms. The attackers slapped and kicked the officers, snatched their bike key, and fled in their SUV.

Nature of Assault

The complaint also states that the men punched the constables on their faces. The accused were wearing rings on their fingers, which caused additional injuries. Police said the accused fled in their Pajero at high speed, making it difficult for the constables to note the vehicle's number. However, the policemen stated they would be able to identify the attackers if they saw them again.
