Brutal Terrace Murder Leads to Life Imprisonment
The Court of Additional District and Sessions Judge III in Koderma delivered a significant verdict on Wednesday, sentencing two convicted murderers to rigorous life imprisonment. Judge Rakesh Chandra pronounced the judgment against Jitendra Turi (36) from Bagro in Koderma district and Sandeep Yadav (32) from Nimadih in Giridih district.
The Fatal Night Attack
The tragic incident occurred on June 7, 2023, when Sikandar Turi was sleeping on his terrace in what should have been a safe space. According to the prosecution, at approximately 12:30 am, the two accused climbed onto the terrace with malicious intent.
In a coordinated assault, Jitendra Turi allegedly struck Sikandar Turi repeatedly on the forehead with an iron rod while Sandeep Yadav sat on the victim's chest and continued the assault. The violent attack created commotion that alerted nearby villagers, who rushed to the scene immediately.
Justice Served After Year-Long Legal Battle
During the trial, Public Prosecutor Praveen Kumar Singh argued strongly for maximum punishment, presenting 10 witnesses to establish the case beyond reasonable doubt. The defense was represented by Advocate Tarkeshwar Mehta.
The court found both accused guilty under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for murder. In addition to the life imprisonment, the judge imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on each convict. The court specified that failure to pay this fine would result in an additional three-month extension of their prison sentence.
Following the attack, villagers managed to apprehend Jitendra Turi at the scene, while Sandeep Yadav initially escaped. The critically injured Sikandar Turi was referred to Ranchi for advanced medical treatment but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. The case began when Chhoti Durgi, the deceased's father, filed an FIR with Domchanch police, setting in motion the legal process that culminated in Wednesday's sentencing.
